Spectrophotometric study of tannins in the herb Achillea millefolium L.

Tannins are an important class of secondary metabolites with a wide range pharmacological effects, due to which they used in various fields treatment. In plants the genus Achillea L., tannins dominant compounds. This allows use plant raw materials and extracts yarrow for development complex herbal combined formulations medicines. The search new sources natural tannin compounds pharmaceutical cosmetic purposes is significant interest encourages improvement phytochemical research methods known species medicinal plants. aim work was develop spectrophotometric method determining quantitative composition terms gallic acid herb millefolium L. Materials methods. study utilized dried air-dried material analysis. content polyphenols determined using modified UV method, calculations based on pyrogallol equivalents. technique from expressed as equivalents, considered effects extractant concentration degree grinding. Results. water extract exhibited polyphenols, calculated at 2.9781 ± 0.0177 %. It observed that particle size significantly influenced yield active substances. optimal technological parameters developed involved extracting crushed 0.5–1.0 mm, 70 % ethanol ratio 1:10, resulting 4.08 0.01 Conclusions. Based obtained results, it recommended utilize employing quantification alcohol-water yarrow.
